WIRES is a non-profit, non-political charity with branches operating across NSW. Over 90 per cent of our funding comes from public donations.

WIRES Wollondilly volunteer members work hard to raise funds to be able to afford the rehabilitation costs of animals. Did you know, that  $8 feeds a ringtail possum for a week, it costs $550 over 12 months to raise a joey wallaby, and it costs about $3000 to build a pre release flight aviary for birds.  In the WIRES Wollondilly Branch we hold an annual fundraising garage sale in October each year at Bargo, we set up stalls at local events and apply for community grants. We also rely heavily on the generosity of caring people and businesses for support because we are a charity not a government service.

If you'd like to donate, you can print our donation form above and post it to WIRES Wollondilly PO Box 63, Bargo, NSW, 2574 or donate online at http://www.wires.org.au/ .

WIRES is a registered charity and all donations $2 and over are tax deductible.

We are in need of funds to help keep our services free of charge to each person who needs us. The money we raise is spent primarily on food, equipment and veterinary expenses for native animals in our care. This year we were successful in two grant applications and have been able to purchase a display board to use at stalls, and some items such as a laminator and a fire extinguisher for our trailer. This year (2007 / 2008) we are raising funds to build a wallaby/kangaroo release pen and a wombat hospital trailer.

Would you like to help by donating equipment or permitting a release facility on your property?

Do you have property in the Wollondilly region that might be suitable as a release site for rehabilitated animals (is your site suitable for possums and gliders, kangaroos and wallabies or wombats)? Its important that animals are released in suitable habitat near to where they were found - so its helpful for us to have a list of suitable sites. Conditions apply - please put your offer in writing and post to PO Box 63, Bargo, NSW, 2574, (or online - click here) for consideration by the Branch. Considerations of site suitability include: habitat suitability; existing population; predators; site access; required infrastructure (eg temporary enclosures); availability of food, water and shelter. Whilst we appreciate all offers of support, some sites may not be suitable. WIRES Wollondilly Branch will assess site suitability, which will likely include an inspection of the property.

If you would like to donate equipment please phone Geneviere on 4684 3897.
